Innovate Health, Tallaght University Hospitalwas set up in 2021 to create the opportunity for staff in the hospital to think differently, push boundaries and explore innovative methodologies and technologies.
Our system faces a wealth of challenges in meeting the growing demand for services, due to an ageing population and increasing rates of chronic diseases. The challenges are further compounded by limited resources and funding. There is a critical need to think differently and explore innovative methodologies and technologies.
Tallaght University Hospital Foundation (TUHF) supports Innovate Health's vision. It shares its vision to develop new healthcare solutions, to improve patient outcomes, reduce costs, and enhance patient satisfaction.
TUHF's goal is to construct a cutting-edge healthcare innovation facility next to the Tallaght University Hospital Campus for Innovate Health. This facility will provide a stimulating environment for innovators to come together, combining the best of science, medicine and technology with academics, public services and the private sector. By doing so, we aim to accelerate the development and adoption of new health technologies and solutions, improve efficiency and economies of scale, and enhance the quality and outcomes of healthcare - with a particular emphasis on Brain Health, Ageing Well and Chronic Disease.
After consultation with TUH stakeholders, draft plans have been developed. These plans have been shaped through inputs from key clinicians and their perspectives.
Our aim is to offer a unique two-way process. Enabling companies to engage at one place and get feedback from clinical experts and service users/patients, also enabling clinical experts and service users/patients to engage directly with companies on issues/challenges identified within healthcare delivery.
Focusing specifically on Diagnostics, Therapeutics and Digital Brain Health Technology, this will be the first unit of its kind in Europe.
Our clinical research facility will play a vital role in our new building by providing a space for researchers to conduct cutting-edge research and to turn that research into new products, services, and technologies that can improve patient outcomes and make healthcare more efficient.
Created for collaboration, for a variety of purposes, including training, workshops, and presentations.
The facility will feature a multifunctional space for innovation and quality improvement.
October 2022, with the help of Taoiseach Leo Varadkar T.D. we launched Innovate Health. We presented our proposed construction of a world-class facility adjacent to the Tallaght University Hospital campus; a facility that will provide access to cutting-edge technology, clinical expertise, and research capabilities, enabling collaboration and partnerships between different stakeholders. A facility that will promote the development of new technologies, encourage entrepreneurship and the growth of small businesses in the health sector, and foster a culture of innovation within the Irish healthcare system. We were proud to share our plans with key figures in the healthcare industry.
