Just a few short months ago, none of us could have predicted the situation we are in now.
And even with Tallaght Unversity Hospital's commitment to redefining healthcare in Ireland, we never imagined the urgent needs that Covid-19 would
place on our hospital. But thanks to the support of our donors, we have already been able to implement significant changes in a very short space of time.
We launched an emergency appeal to support our hospital to use in different ways. And it's already been used to great effect. Thank you.
Thanks to you and our donors' generosity we have been able to create 15 Rest and Reconnect Rooms giving the hospital's staff a place to gain a little respite from their fight against the ongoing pandemic.
Elsewhere, technology has made visiting for family and friends possible – even though restrictions are keeping people apart. See more below.
But our work isn’t done. From managing rapid change to caring for those enduring this most difficult virus, by coming together as a Foundation, a Hospital and a Community, we need to continue to put real force behind our vision for healthcare. Please read about some of our hospital’s immediate needs by visiting the Our Focus page on our website.
Thanks to your generosity, these projects are completed and changing lives.
Thanks to our generous donors, TUHF has delivered a surgical robotic programme known as da Vinci Surgical System for the benefit of TUH and its patients that brings TUH in line with leading hospitals internationally.
Thanks to donors, TUH will now be able to offer an alternative option to open surgery and perform complex minimally invasive surgical procedures with precision and accuracy to over 200 patients annually, making a significant difference on how TUH will deliver excellent patient care.
TUHF is thrilled to be in a position to invest €2m in this state-of-the-art medical technology that assures better patient outcomes and enhanced efficiency. A massive thank you to all our donors and supporters that continue to back our vision to radically improve the quality of care through healthcare investment.
Due to restrictions, it isn’t always possible for our patients to see their loved ones while they’re in the hospital. However, as a result of our recent appeal, and through a generous donation from Apple, each ward is now equipped with an encased iPad to bring the hospital’s patients and their families and friends together.
These iPads have replaced in-person visiting and also make it possible for a family member to be present during some consultations.
Support from our donors, coupled with a generous donation from the Community Foundation, has enabled us to establish 15 Rest & Reconnect rooms around the hospital to help our staff to focus on their health and wellbeing. These are new spaces that allow staff to switch off, get some time to quieten their minds and breathe – even for just a little while.
The Rest & Reconnect Rooms are already providing much-needed respite to many of our medical teams.
