Tallaght University Hospital Foundation (TUHF) is joining forces with the Laurels Charity Cycle crew for their annual cycle from Galway to Dublin on April 26th - 28th 2024 to raise funds for TUH age related healthcare.
Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or a casual rider, everyone is welcome to join in on the fun!
Totalling just over 225km in 2 days, EVERYONE can do it - the participants range in age, fitness levels and cycling experience and we welcome all levels of ability.
With regular and gradual training and the support of the Laurels charity crew, rest assured you will not only complete the challenge but love the experience too !

Galway to Dublin 2024 Itinerary
Friday 26th April 2024
- Bikes to be dropped off at predetermined area for transport (normally before 1pm).
- Buses will leave The Laurels around 5pm for cyclists to go to the Connaught Hotel Galway City
Saturday 27th April 2024
- Breakfast served from 6.30am
- Bikes will be available outside for cyclists by support team
- Cyclists will leave the Connaught Hotel, Galway at approx 8-9am
- The distance is approx. 127km on day
- There are stops every 25km where cyclists can refill on food and water.
- There is a long stop in Kilmore for soup/sandwiches/tea/coffee
- Cycle will finish up at either Bridge House or Tullamore Court Hotel (depending on where you are staying)
- Race to the bar to regale old and new friends of your accomplishments on the day and to pat one another on the back!!
- Group barbeque will take place around 8pm
Sunday 28th April 2024
- Breakfast served from 6.30am
- Bikes will be available outside for cyclists by support team
- Cyclist will leave the Bridge House Hotel, Tullamore at either 9.30am or 10.30am
- The distance is approx. 100km on day
- There are stops every 25km where cyclists can refill on food and water.
- There is a long stop in Kinnegad for soup/sandwiches/tea/coffee
- Cyclists will re-group at the Penny-Hill in Lucan
- Cyclists will then proceed in one single group, with a Garda escort, from Lucan to The Laurels in Clondalkin
Training
- Training kicks off on the first Saturday of January at 10am from The Laurels
- 40km from Clondalkin to Straffan, stop for coffee, back to Clondalkin. Cyclists will average 20km an hour at the beginning
- The distance and speed will very gradually become longer (to get cyclists up to 127km in one day) and faster (up to 25km per hour by the time the event takes place).
- The Laurels Cycle Crew (LCC) will teach cyclists how to cycle in a group (peloton), including call for hazards (potholes, shores etc.).
- Each training cycle will be mild mannered and friendly with plenty of chats between cyclists
