The need for innovation in healthcare has never been greater. Our system faces a wealth of challenges in meeting the growing demand for services, due to an ageing population and increasing rates of chronic diseases. The challenges are further compounded by limited resources and funding.  There is a critical need to think differently and explore innovative methodologies and technologies.

Innovate Health, was set up in 2021 to create the opportunity for staff in the hospital to think differently, push boundaries and explore innovative methodologies and technologies to provide patients with better outcomes, improve their experience, and promote overall wellness across TUH. Already it has over 120 ideas in the innovation pipeline.

Tallaght University Hospital Foundation (TUHF) supports Innovate Health. It shares its vision to develop new healthcare solutions, to improve patient outcomes, reduce costs, and enhance patient satisfaction. TUHF is ambitious, not only for Innovate Health but also for Ireland to build its reputation for innovation and research in healthcare. We aspire to:

  • Facilitate collaboration and partnerships between different stakeholders, which can lead to more efficient and effective problem-solving and innovation.
  • Provide access to specialized expertise and resources, such as facilities and equipment that may not be readily available to individual organisations or researchers.
  • Support the development of new technologies, products, and services that can improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare costs.
  • Promote the commercialisation of new health innovations, which can create jobs and economic growth.
  • Encourage and support entrepreneurship and the growth of small businesses in the health sector.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and experimentation within the healthcare system, which can lead to ongoing improvements in patient care.
