Runners of all abilities took part in the T.P.Waters Ambition Run in late August and raised a whopping 8,500 Euro to help our hospital create a space where families of seriously ill patients can spend time close to their loved ones in a comfortable and respectful environment.
Speaking at the cheque presentation, Kelly Crowley Head of Development at Tallaght University Hospital Foundation thanked everyone,
“The oncology team in Tallaght University Hospital take wonderful care of our patients suffering from cancer but we have long recognized that there is a real need for a family room where families can be with their loved ones in a comfortable and respectful environment. “
“Cancer affects everyone in different ways and our staff want to support people on their journey with us. The family room which will be funded by this generous donation will provide a place of comfort and restfulness for those coping with the stresses and trauma of seeing a family member being treated for cancer in hospital”, she continued.
“I want to thank everyone who supported the run and want to acknowledge the role of Liam Ryan, a patient here in TUH who together with T.P. Waters and Seat have made a real and massive difference to the lives of our seriously ill patients and their families.”
Also speaking at the cheques presentation , T.J Waters said, “ we are so pleased to present Tallaght University Hospital Foundation with a cheque for €8,500 to support the development of a Family Room in the Maguire Ward. On 31st August this year, over 200 of our great community e took to the streets of Kildare for the T.P.
